Our Family Christmas

We celebrated our Christmas on Saturday since we will be in Texas for Christmas.  We had so much fun watching the kids open their presents, Miles really didn't care too much about opening the presents he just walked around looking at what everyone else got. But Kaitlyn on the other hand, she wanted to rip open any gift no matter if it was for her or not! :) It was so cute though because we told her that it was our Christmas so after we got done opening gifts she said "It's Jesus' birthday mommy!!" She was so excited about his birthday, and it made me so happy to see that even with these presents that we gave her, she still remembered the reason that we were celebrating Christmas!

The kids looking at their Santa gifts, Miles got a basketball goal
and Kate got Sleeping Beauty dress-up

Miles thought it would be more fun to stand on the box, he threw a fit when we made him get off of it!

Santa Claus

We took the kids to go see Santa this past weekend, because for the first time since she has been born Kaitlyn wasn't afraid of him and was actually really excited to sit on his lap! We didn't think that Miles would be scared because Kate has always been a lot more cautious than him. But the moment that we went to put Miles on Santa's lap, he fell apart! I still think it is a very cute picture and in years to come we will get many laughs out of it I'm sure. After we were through, Kaitlyn said "mommy, why didn't Miles like Santa?" She just couldn't understand why anyone wouldn't like Santa!!

Kaitlyn's Class Picture

So this is Kaitlyn's class at her preschool, I thought it was a pretty cute picture, even though Kate isn't looking at the camera. Then I started to look even closer at it and realized that Kate's hand is not in her pocket, it is down her pants! Jon said she rolls Al Bundy style (the guy from the old show Married with Children)!!! I laughed so hard, I was now so glad that I decided to get it!

Feelin' Crafty!

Well our family has definitely been getting into the Christmas spirit! We have been doing all sorts of crafty things from baking Christmas cookies to painting ornaments! It has been so much fun and Kaitlyn has been loving it!!

The decorator!
Our beautiful cookies

I painted Kailtyn's arm and then her hands to make this reindeer, although when I showed it to Jon he said "oh that is a cute moose." I said a moose with a red nose? It is a reindeer, duh! :)
I made these ornaments for the kids to decorate, it was like making sugar cookie cutouts except you only use flour, salt, and water and they come out of the oven hard as a brick! The two gingerbread men I painted, and then I used the kids finger prints for buttons. Kate pained all the rest except for the yellow star which I painted first and then let Miles have at it with the blue paint!
Kaitlyn actually made this at school, isn't it so cute?! They used graham crackers instead of gingerbread. All she could do was talk about eating it and then when I finally let her, she wouldn't even take one bite!

Kaitlyn's 3 year old Check Up and Miles' 15 month Check Up

The kids went to the doctor yesterday for their well baby check up, and both are doing great and are very healthy. Kaitlyn only had to have a flu shot but poor little Miles had to have three shots, but the good news is that they are both caught up until age four now!! Here are their stats

Kaitlyn:
Weight- 29 lb 4 oz (50th percentile)
Height- 36.5 in (50th percentile)
Head Circumference-19 in

Miles:
Weight- 21 lb 8 oz  (10th percentile)
Height-31.75in (75th percentile)
Head Circumference- 19 in

Notice they both have the same head circumference!  The doctor said Miles is a tall skinny boy, I was a little worried about him being in the 10th percentile, but she pointed out how he is like Kate and never sits still. She said that there was nothing wrong with him, he was just a very active little kid. Kaitlyn is doing just fine too and is very healthy and she actually didn't even flinch when she got her shot! I was so impressed!!

Colin and Laurie Visit

Colin and Laurie and Canon and Bailey came to visit us. We had so much fun, we toured DC a little since Laurie had never seen it before. The kids had an awesome time together, I wish that we lived closer so the cousins could play together more often.

The Sweetest Sound to My Ears

So the other day Jon, Kate, Miles and I were in the car going to the mall, and this song "Mighty to Save" came on the radio. Kaitlyn loves this song, in fact every time it comes on she yells "mommy, its our song!" So naturally she did the same thing this time, so I started singing it and she joined in and then I faded out and turned the radio down a little, and when I did this, all I could hear was my little three year olds voice singing, "Savior, he can move the mountains, my God is mighty to save, he is mighty to save". As I am listening to her sing this, tears welled up in my eyes and I looked over at Jon, and he had big tears in his as well. It was a moment that I will remember forever and a moment that is priceless to me. This is my little girl singing about her savior, I just pray that in the years to come she will still want to sing about Him. After the song was over I told her how pretty her voice was and how I loved hearing her sing, and she said "yeah, that song was about Jesus, I love Jesus, he's so cute mommy!"  Then Jon  looked over at me and said "I guess we are doing something right!"  So anyway if you haven't heard this song, it is one of my favorites, listen to it and really listen to the words!

Mommy will you take my picture?

This morning Kaitlyn came up to me and asked "mommy, will you take my picture?" (We just bought a new camera so I am always looking for any opportunity to try it out, so when she asked me this, I was so excited!) Most times I want to take a picture of her she doesn't want me to! So we went out in front of our house and she and Miles were great, I think we got some really cute pictures even though it was so cold out today!! Enjoy!! :)

My Little Flower Girl

Kaitlyn was asked to be the flower girl in her uncle Jake's wedding a few weeks ago. She did great in it and loved wearing a pretty dress! Here are a few pictures that I got, I was busy chasing Miles around that I wasn't able to get too many pictures of her.

Kaitlyn and Uncle Andy

Kaitlyn adores her Uncle Andy, anywhere we went she had to be holding his hand or sitting next to him!

Hi NayNay!!!

Hi NayNay, I miss you too! I tell my mommy all the time how I wish I could come to your house and play, but she says it is too far away. Mommy said that we might get to see you after Christmas or maybe in February so I can't wait until then! I miss you so much, you are still my best friend too!!!

I love you,

Love, KayKay

Halloween and Kaitlyn's 3rd Birthday!!

We had a blast this weekend, it was filled with so much fun! On Friday Kaitlyn wore her Halloween costume to school and they had a little parade and made some crafts with parents. Then that night we took the ballerina and little monkey trick or treating, Kaitlyn enjoied it until a kid walked by her wearing a scary skeleton costume. Then instead of getting candy, all she wanted to do was go home. On Saturday we celebrated Kaitlyn's birthday (her birthday was really on Sunday) by taking her to the mall to ride the carosel a few times, eating lunch wherever she wanted and then taking her on the train ride at the mall. Then that night she wanted me to make her pizza for dinner, so we ate pizza and then opened presents and had yummy cake! What a weekend!

You can see that the kids in Kaitlyn's class loved Miles!!

Nana and Oompa's Visit

This is truly why we are a free country.

This sight put a big lump in my throat.
(Arlington National Cemetary)

This ones for you Allie!

Beautiful trees, some of the trees at Mount Vernon have
been proven to be ones that George Washington planted himself.
Crazy to think that a tree could live that long!

Oompa and Miles, the really neat thing about this picture is that
my dad remembers standing near that very spot when he visited here
when he was a kid!
